First Pics!

These are a few of the first pics that I have taken with my new camera. I have had so much fun. Mauro and Kyla, on the other hand, are a little perturbed with the fact that I keep asking them to pose for shots. But I don't care...they will just have to get used to it because there are a few million more pictures to take!

Kyla in the backyard.

Kyla on the waterslide at Grammy and Bumpy's. This is in the harsh afternoon sun, and the camera still did pretty good!

A weed in my backyard. Who knew weeds could look so good. I'm stickin to that story when our land-lord asks us why we haven't kept up with the yard work!

Emery in Papi's shirt. This was inside with fill flash. Normally I don't like to use the flash, but it was dark and needed more light. I think it came out pretty good - her face is not washed out hardly at all. Anyway, she danced around in the shirt - it was really funny.

My Girls

Kyla at he Dixon May Fair. Posing, of course, for the camera.

Emery at the Dixon May Fair. We took her shoes off in the hope that
she would not run around, but stay close by. It didn't work. She is no
longer bothered by grass...

Emery next to my antique school desk. Always natural and serious.

Kyla and the same desk. Natural...and pretty...If you know her, you know that's a hard picture to get. She is always posing and being a princess...

Grandpa

This Saturday is my Grandpa Walt's Memorial service. He was a strong, tall, quiet, Godly man. He took care of his family with what little money they had and with his big heart. He worked the land as a farmer and cattle rancher in Eastern Montana for most of his life, and even drove a logging truck in Oregon when my mom and her siblings were young. Even though he was quiet, he loved to tell stories, some real and others just to pull your leg...then he would chuckle with his deep, low belly laugh. He had special names for everyone...Bum, my sister Holly was Julio, and all the babies, whether they were a girl or boy, were Oscar. I have so many good memories of my Grandpa. He really enjoyed life and enjoyed living a peacful, simple life in Montana. There was no other place he would rather be, except with my Grandma Alma who passed away 8 months before he did. He knew that she was with the Lord, and wished to be there also. He missed her so terribly that he just never could get on with life without her. Well, now they are in Heaven, worshipping at the feet of the Lord and singing with the Angels...Together, there's really no other place they would rather be.

Alpha Mom

Alpha Mom - No, I don't mean the "Head Honcho", the"Boss", the "Man-or Wo-man". What I mean is, I am joining the ranks of the proud mom's who own a Digital SLR. I just purchased a Sony Alpha A200k DSLR!!!! So, I am a proud mamma of an Alpha - get it? Alpha Mom... Ok, I thought it was funny. Well, I have become a photo-hobbiest, a photo enthusiast, an amatuer photographer wanna-be! I love taking pics of my kids, and have really enjoyed taking pictures the last couple of years. In fact, I find myself driving down the road wishing that I had a great camera with a telephoto lens so that I can get that great shot of the red tailed hawk on the power lines, or the group of cows with the new home construction in the back ground. So, I bought a book, Creative Exposure, (I would recommend it to anyone), subscribed to some great photography forums and websights, like shootthebaby.com, pioneerwoman.com... So, I will be making a good effort to post new pics each week with a small blog. This picture was actually taken with my friends Rebel XTI - it's what really got me started with wanting one like it. I would have never been able to take a pic like this with my point and shoot....So, be watching and reading.
